At our Open Board Meeting on May 26, 2021, we discussed complaints received concerning both political and non-political yard signs. The discussion largely centered around the feeling of community that celebratory signs elicit versus tension that may arise from political signs. After deliberation with homeowners in attendance, the Board determined we would allow celebration signs (graduation, new baby, birthday, etc) as long as they were removed within one week after the event, but continue to prohibit political signs. The Board communicated this decision via the meeting minutes that were emailed to all homeowners, and posted the minutes on our website.
Unfortunately, this “gentlemen’s agreement” was not followed by all and we continue to receive complaints from homeowners about signs. Therefore, the Board will return to enforcing the strict wording of Section 2.16 of the Declaration of Restrictions and Covenants for The Orchards at River Bluff which reads: “No sign of any kind shall be placed or displayed to the public view on any lot, except one sign of not more than six square feet advertising the residence for sale.” We kindly ask all neighbors to remove all signs of any kind in your yard, garden or in public view within seven (7) days of this notice. This includes, but is not limited to, yard and garden signs and flags, celebration signs, collegiate signs, business advertising, and political signs and flags. As volunteer members of the Board of Directors of our private Homeowners Association, we are required to enforce the Declaration to help maintain property values and community harmony. A copy of the Declaration is available HERE. Please contact the HOA Board of Directors with questions or concerns HERE. Thank you for cooperating with us on this matter. Your neighbors and HOA Board, Susan, Liz, and Jessica
